Characters at Hogwarts

Students –

Harry James Potter –

Harry Potter is a famous wizard because of the lightning scar on his forehead. He received the scar from Lord Voldemort who killed his parents, Lily and James Potter when he was just a baby. Ancient magic and a prophecy however, meant he could not be killed, but was marked out as Voldemort's equal. He lived for his first sixteen years with his Aunt Petunia (his mother's sister), Uncle Vernon and his cousin Dudley at 4 Privet Drive. Harry hated it there and they hated Harry been there. He was protcted from Voldemort there until he became of age at 17, as long as he could class it as his home. It did not stop two Dementors however, showing up in Little Whinging and attacking Harry and his cousin.

He is best friends with Ron and Hermione and had an owl called Hedwig, who sadly was killed by a Death Eater on his flight from 4 Privet Drive. He attended Hogwarts for six years, missing his seventh year to concentrate on destroying Voldemort. He was in Gryffindor house, where he was the Seeker for their Quidditch team, and also Team Captain in his 6th year. He was the youngest ever Seeker in over 100 years and also was one of the champions for the Tri-wizard Tournament. He achieved 7 OWLS, with an Outstanding in Defence Against the Dark Arts. He failed Histroy of Magic and Divination though.

He also had a godfather Sirius, who was killed whilst serving in the Order, but he inherited all of Sirius' possessions. This included 12 Grimmauld Place and the house elf, Kreacher. His birthday is 31st July. Harry had early romantic feelings for Cho Chang and the two briefly "dated." He finally realised his feelings for Ginny Weasley in his 6th year, and they briefly went out. However, he ended it because he did not want Ginny to be used againnst him by Voldemort. The two however, ended up marrying, and had three children - James, Albus Severus, and Lily.

Harry looks like his father James, apart from having his mother's green eyes, as he is constantly told. His patronus takes the form of a stag after his father's form of animagus. He considers himself to be Dumbledore's man through-and-through, even more so, after Dumbledore's death, and Dumbledore describes Harry as 'selfless' for his bravery against Voldemort.

Ronald Bilius Weasley –

Ron Weasley has bright red hair and freckles like all the other Weasley's. He is very tall. He is Harry's best friend along with Hermione. He lives at The Burrow. His favourite Quidditch team is the Chudley Cannons. He is in Gryffindor too and was made the new Gryffindor Keeper in his fifth year, as well as Prefect. Ron was often jealous of Harry's fame and often feels ashamed because his family is poor, but seems to have grown out of this. He had a rat called Scabbers, who turned out to be Wormtail, and now has an owl called Pigwidgeon or Pig for short. His birthday is 1st March. He went out with Lavender Brown, but he still has strong feelings for Hermione. He also achieved 7 OWLS and failed History of Magic and Divination. In the 7th book, Ron's leadership qualities began to flourish, and he admitted his love to Hermione. The two married and had two children - Rose and Hugo.

Hermione Jean Granger –

Hermione Granger was the best student in her year at Hogwarts. There's not an answer that she doesn't know. She achieved 11 OWLS, all Outstanding except for one. She is best friends with Ron and Harry and has a cat called Crookshanks. She was in Gryffindor house with Harry and Ron and was also a Prefect. Hermione became more relaxed when she became friends with Harry and Ron. She became politically correct in her fourth year at Hogwarts, starting a campaign called SPEW over the treatment of house elves. She dated Viktor Krum, international Quidditch player and kept in contact with him by writing letters. However, her real love is Ron Weasley, as she was very upset when he began to date Lavender Brown. Her birthday is September 19th. Hermione is labelled as one of the most intelligent witches around, but she is often ver narrow-minded. She married Ron and they have two children.

Ginerva Molly Weasley –

The only daughter in the Weasley family, who has always been an admirer of Harry. She was captured by Tom Riddle (see Chamber of Secrets) but was rescued by Harry so looks up to him as a hero. She has a soft spot for all animals and is one of the kindest people around agreeing to go to the Yule Ball with Neville as Hermione turned him down. She is in the year below Harry, Ron and Hermione at Hogwarts and has wanted to go there since her eldest brother Bill first began there. She dated Michael Corner and was seeing Dean Thomas. Harry finally realised his feelings for Ginny, but they broke up when he relaised he has to go after Voldemort alone. She was understanding though, as it is probably one of the reasons that she likes him. Harry lkes her because she is tough and not weepy from having six brothers! She has played both Chaser and Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and is regarded as a very popular, pretty and entertaining girl. She has a pygmy puff named Arnold. Ginny and Harry married, and they now have three children.

Draco Malfoy –

Draco is the son of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy and all of the Malfoy's have been in Slytherin. They were the first to come back to the other side when Lord Voldemort lost power, claiming that they had been brainwashed. He and Harry were worst enemies. His best friends at school were Crabbe and Goyle. He was a nasty piece of work in his earlier years at school, who only believed in pure wizard families. There were times that Malfoy paid dearly for this attitude, like when Professor Moody turned him into a bouncing white ferret. Malfoy is spoilt rotten by his parents, who are a very rich and old family, and live at Malfoy Manor. He was Seeker for the Slyterin Quidditch team and was also a school Prefect. Draco was given the task of killing Albus Dumbledore by Voldemort, and revealed his more human side by being too scared and afraid to do so. He found comfort in Moaning Myrtle! Draco was later rescued from death twice by Harry, Ron and Hermione, and was frightened of Voldemort when Voldemort's reign of terror began. He is married with one son, Scorpius.

Neville Longbottom –

Neville Longbottom was also in Gryffindor house and is almost a squib. He has a toad called Trevor and is extremely forgetful. Neville was scared stiff of Snape as a student, and lived with his grandma as his parents are in St. Mungo's. His best subject is easily Herbology but with the right teacher, Neville is almost as good in Defence against the Dark Arts. Neville proved he is a strong wizard when fighting against Voldemort. He killed Voldemort's snake Nagini. He now teaches Herbology at Hogwarts.

Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnigan –

Dean and Seamus shared the dormitory with Harry, Ron and Neville. They are best friends and often feel jealous of Harry and Ron's friendship. They are easily impressed by them, like when Harry and Ron took the two prettiest girls in the year (according to Dean and Seamus) to the Yule Ball and flew the Flying Ford Anglia at Hogwarts. Seamus is Irish and fell out with Harry because his mother did not believe that Voldemort was back. He is half-blood, whereas Dean is Muggle-born.

Cho Chang -

Cho Chang is a pretty student at Hogwarts who was in Ravenclaw. She was also seeker of their Quidditch team. Harry had a huge crush on Cho but it was too late when he asked her to the Yule Ball, she was going with Cedric Diggory. She became Cedric's girlfriend after the Yule Ball and was very upset when he was murdered. She spent her 6th year at Hogwarts crying constantly and although Harry and Cho kissed under the mistletoe and went on a date, it went badly and she started dating Michael Corner, Ginny's ex-boyfriend. The seventh book alludes that Michael and Cho are still together.

Parvati and Padma Patil -

Parvati and Padma are twins in Harry's year at school. Parvati is a pretty Gryffindor. Her favourite lesson was Divination, where Professor Trelawney favoured her and todl her she had the makings of a Seer. She went with Harry to the Yule Ball. Her twin, Padma was a Ravenclaw Prefect. They were removed from Hogwarts in their 6th year by their parents, due to Voldemort's return.

Angelina Johnson, Alicia Spinnet and Katie Bell -

The three girls were all Chasers on the Gryffindor Quidditch team and Angelina was also Captain.

Crabbe and Goyle -

Crabbe and Goyle are Malfoy's sidekicks. It would be surprising if they did have a brain between them. They were both in Slytherin and did everything that Malfoy told them to. They are big because they never stop eating and are equally stupid. Both were Beaters on the Slytherin Quidditch team. Crabbe died in the fight at Hogwarts, killed by his own cursed fire.

Colin and Dennis Creevy -

Colin is one of Harry's biggest fans, along with his younger brother Dennis. Colin followed Harry around everywhere in his first year, taking pictures of him and was fascinated with everything that Harry did. He was also petrified when trying to sneak up to the sick rooms to see Harry. Dennis is two years younger than Colin. They were both in Gryffindor and of Muggle parentage.

Justin Finch-Fletchley -

Justin is in Hufflepuff in Harry's year. He is Muggle-born and was down for Eton before he learnt that he had been chosen for Hogwarts. He made the right decision though and joined the best school around. He suspected Harry of been the Heir of Slytherin and making a snake "attack" him but now they are friends once more and he joined DA that Harry taught.

Luna Lovegood -

Luna is a Ravenclaw in Ginny's year and is sommetimes called "Loony." She has waist-length blonde hair with a permanent surprised look on her face. She joined the DA also and persuaded her dad to print the truth about Harry in his magazine with an article wrote by Rita Skeeter. She is not afraid to believe in things that othrs laugh at, and seems almost happy with her own little world that she inhabits in her head.

Professor Dumbledore –

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was the head master of Hogwarts, and before that taught Transfiguration. He was considered to be the greatest wizard of modern times. He was famous for the defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, who at one point was his best friend. He defeated Grindelwald in a duel, and took the Elder Wand off him. Dumbledore also discovered the 12 uses of dragon blood and is known for his work on alchemy. He was in Gryffindor at Hogwarts and won every prize going. He was also HeadBoy and Prefect. After Hogwarts, it was his intention to travel the word with best friend Doge, but follwing the death of his mother, and the imprisonment of his father, he became the head of the family, despite his brother Aberforth saying he would look after younger sister Ariana. Ariana was accidentally killed by either Dumbledore, Aberforth or Grindelwald, which Aberforth blamed on Dumbledore, and broke his nose at Ariana's funreal.

He enjoyed chamber music and ten-pin bowling and he had a phoenix called Fawkes. He was the only one that Lord Voldemort was scared of and even the Dementors wouldn't come into Hogwarts whilst he was there. Dumbledore was happy to help Fudge with running the Ministry until Fudge didn't believe that Voldemort had gained his old body back and power. Fudge changed his position on this but he did make it hard for Dumledore. He got him voted out of the Wizengamot, where he was Chief Warlock, and he was also dismissed from the Chairmanship of the International Confederation of Wizards. They tried to take away his Order of Merlin as well, but Dumbledore was reinstated when Fudge believed him. He refused the Minister of Magic position because he was scared of the power he had, and instead dedicated himself to teaching.

Dumbledore has so many memories that he needed to use a Pensieve to store them. He was the creator and leader of the Order of the Phoenix. Dumbledore was supposingly the only wizard that Voldemort was afraid of. However, Dumbledore met his supposed demise at the hands of Snape, although it came to light that DUmbledore was dying from the cursed ring that blackened his hand. He only had a year left to live, and told Snape to kill him when the time was right. He is encased in a white marble tomb at Hogwarts, and had lived for more than 150 years. During those 150 years, Dumbledore was a very shrewd and accurate guesser, understanding magic and life more than anyone else in the world.

Hagrid –

Rubeus Hagrid is the gamekeeper at Hogwarts. He also teaches Care of Magical Creatures. He was a pupil of Hogwarts until he was expelled in his third year. They all thought that he unleashed the horror of the Chamber of Secrets but it wasn't him. Snape is often described as having greasy black hair and a hooked nose. He could turn into a bat. Snape was in the same year at Hogwarts as James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew and Lily Evans. He was a few years below Lucius Malfoy. He seemed to hate Harry just as he hated Harry's dad, James and his friends, as they were always taunting him and calling him Snivellus. The truth was he was in love with Lily Evans, who he had known from childhood, and she had been his best friend until he accidentally called her a 'Mudblood' after been taunted by James and co. He was the head of Slytherin and taught Potions. He kept hoping to get the Defence Against the Dark Arts job, and finally was given the placement in Harry's 6th year. He was then made head master under Voldermort's control.

Snape can be evil and was once a Death Eater but Dumbledore has always claimed that he is now good. He seems to have a double-agent role in trying to stop Voldemort. Snape is 35, the same age as Harry's parents, Sirius, Lupin and Wormtail. He was in Slytherin whilst he was a pupil at Hogwarts and taught there since the Potter's death. However, it seems that Snape was working for Voldemort all along, as he killed Dumbledore at the top of the Astronomy tower. However, this was planned between the two, and Snape has always been on the side of good. He was skilled at hiding his true nature to Voldemort, and Voldemort considered him his right-hand man until the end. Voldemort however, killed Snape to gain the Elder wand off him. Snape's last act was to give Harry his memories to reveal the truth about himself once and for all. It seems Dumbledore had been right to trust Snape all along.

Dobby is laid to rest at Shell Cottage, as a free elf.

Winky was Barty Crouch's house-elf who he dismissed because she was found with Harry's wand that had just conjured up the death mark.
